CBS Block Construction All Finishes Available Permits & HOA Handled Featured on HGTV
What are driveway entry columns? Entry columns are structural CBS block pillars built at your driveway entrance — finished in stucco, stone veneer, cast stone, or brick to match your home's architecture. They frame your gate, define your property's entrance, and dramatically elevate curb appeal. Column pairs start at $2,800. Complete entrance packages with automated gate and perimeter fencing run $15,000–$100,000+. Elite Fence & Gate designs and builds custom column and gate packages across South Florida — one contractor, fully permitted, HOA handled.

Your driveway entrance is the first thing every visitor, neighbor, and buyer sees. In South Florida's luxury communities — Palm Beach, Coral Gables, Weston, Boca West, Pinecrest, Gulf Stream, and Parkland — a bare driveway opening with a chain link fence or a standard aluminum panel gate signals that the property hasn't been finished to its full potential. Custom entry columns with an automated gate signal something completely different.

Elite Fence & Gate is the only South Florida contractor that handles custom column construction, gate fabrication and automation, perimeter fencing, and driveway integration under one contract. We build columns from CBS block — the same structural masonry used in Florida home construction — and finish them in whatever material matches your property's architectural character. We file every permit and handle every HOA submission. You make one call and your entrance is transformed.

⚠️ Column construction + permit + HOA approval takes 4–8 weeks total. If you want your entrance completed before a property listing, a major event, or the next season — contact us now. We file the day you sign. Call 561-905-2206.

Column Finishes — What's Right for Your Home

Smooth Stucco

From $2,800 per pair

The most popular column finish in South Florida. CBS block core with smooth stucco exterior — painted to match your home's color. Clean, versatile, and appropriate for Mediterranean, contemporary, and transitional architectural styles. The standard finish throughout Weston, Boca West, and Parkland HOA communities.

Stone Veneer

From $4,500 per pair

Natural or manufactured stone applied over CBS block. Creates a premium, substantial look that photographs exceptionally well. Popular on luxury properties in Coral Gables, Pinecrest, and Palm Beach where the entrance needs to match a high-end stone home exterior. Multiple stone species available — travertine, limestone, coral stone, manufactured stone panels.

Cast Stone Caps & Details

From $3,500 per pair

Smooth stucco columns with cast stone architectural details — decorative caps, pilaster details, keystones, and molding profiles. The signature look for Mediterranean Revival properties in Coral Gables and Palm Beach Island. Cast stone details are pre-cast and set into the column structure — they never deteriorate in South Florida's climate.

Brick Veneer

From $4,000 per pair

Traditional brick applied over CBS block. Appropriate for Colonial, traditional, and British Colonial architectural styles common in Palm Beach and older Coral Gables neighborhoods. Special order brick species available including reclaimed brick for historic property restorations.

Contemporary Clean-Line

From $3,200 per pair

Square or rectangular CBS block columns with smooth plaster finish, sharp corner profiles, and integrated LED lighting recessed into the column face or cap. The dominant column style for modern and contemporary properties throughout Key Biscayne, South Miami, and newer luxury communities in Doral and Weston.

Custom Designed

From $6,000 per pair

Fully custom column designs — any height, any proportion, any finish combination, any integrated feature. Designed to match architectural drawings, custom home designs, or unique property requirements. We work directly with architects and landscape designers on custom column specifications for South Florida's most distinctive properties.

Real Project — Weston Estate Entrance Transformation

4 CBS Columns + Dual Swing Gate + Perimeter Fence — Weston, FL

A homeowner in Weston had a standard aluminum fence and a manual swing gate that didn't reflect the quality of their home. They wanted a complete entrance transformation. We designed and built 2 pairs of CBS columns — smooth stucco finish with cast stone caps and integrated lighting — matched to their Mediterranean Revival home. A custom dual swing automated aluminum gate was mounted between the primary columns. 260 linear feet of ornamental black aluminum perimeter fencing completed the package. City of Weston permit and HOA ARC submission filed simultaneously — both approved in 4 weeks.

Gate & Fence Integration — One Complete Package

Entry columns don't stand alone — they work best as part of a complete entrance system. Elite Fence & Gate designs and installs the full package:

Gate Mounting on Columns

Gates are mounted directly to the column structure using heavy-duty hardware set into the CBS block during construction — not surface-mounted with lag bolts. This is the correct installation method for South Florida's wind conditions. A gate that is properly column-mounted will outlast the gate operator by decades. A surface-mounted gate on a South Florida property is a hurricane liability.

Perimeter Fence Connection

The fence connects to the column at a finished junction point — not a raw block face. We design the column width and the fence post connection detail together so the finished product looks like a unified architectural element, not a fence bolted onto a column.

Driveway Integration

For complete entrance transformations, we coordinate with paver contractors and landscape designers to ensure the column placement integrates with the driveway surface and landscape plan. We don't build columns in isolation — we design the entrance as a complete composition. If you have an existing paver contractor or landscape designer involved in your project, we coordinate directly with them.

Lighting Integration

Cap lighting, column face lighting, gate post lighting, and landscape up-lighting are all available as part of a complete entrance package. We run all electrical conduit during column construction — adding lighting after the columns are built requires core drilling and is significantly more expensive. Plan your lighting at the design stage.

We design for HOA approval from the start. In Weston, Boca West, Broken Sound, Parkland Golf & Country Club, and dozens of other South Florida HOA communities, column and gate designs must be approved by the ARC before construction begins. We know what gets approved in each community before we design anything. We have never had a column design rejected on second submission in any South Florida HOA community.

Communities We Serve for Column & Gate Projects

We build custom driveway columns and gates throughout South Florida's luxury communities — Palm Beach, Manalapan, Gulf Stream, Boca Raton, Boca West, Broken Sound, Highland Beach, Weston, Parkland, Southwest Ranches, Coral Gables, Pinecrest, Key Biscayne, Golden Beach, Bal Harbour, and all surrounding communities in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties.

💭 "We're worried the columns won't match our house — how do you get the design right?"

Column design that doesn't match the home's architecture is the most common mistake we see in South Florida — and it happens when contractors build a standard column without considering the home's proportions, materials, and style. Our design process starts with photos of your home's exterior, your HOA's approved styles, and your inspiration images. We then design column dimensions, proportions, and finish details that specifically complement your home. For Mediterranean Revival homes we use cast stone details and smooth stucco — for contemporary homes we use clean-line profiles with recessed LED lighting. We don't have a standard column. Every pair we build is designed for that specific property. Schedule a design consultation and bring photos of your home and anything you've seen that you admire.
💭 "We've had other contractors tell us the HOA won't approve columns — is that true?"

In most cases it's not true — it's the contractor's way of saying they don't want to deal with the HOA submission process. Most South Florida HOA communities actively encourage high-quality entry columns because they improve the overall appearance of the community. The key is designing within the HOA's approved style guidelines and submitting a complete package. We've gotten column and gate projects approved in communities that other contractors said were impossible — including several Weston communities and Boca West. Call 561-905-2206 and tell us your HOA community — we'll tell you immediately what's achievable.
